About MusiPALity- Coming April 2012!
Mission of MusiPALity
Our mission is to provide a quality music enrichment program, in a nurturing environment, for youths who would not otherwise have access to private music instruction.
MusiPALity, an after-school youth music enrichment program, was formed based on the belief that if youths are given access to affordable and regular music lessons and enrichment opportunities, they will excel in many other areas of their lives. Perhaps the most basic reason that every child should have music education and enrichment opportunities is that music is part of the fabric of our society. The intrinsic value of music for each individual is widely recognized in the many cultures that make up American life. Every human culture has used and currently uses music to carry forward its ideals and ideas. The importance of music to the American economy is without doubt. The value of music in shaping individual abilities and character are attested in many studies and articles.
Success in society is predicated by success in school. Skills learned through the discipline of music transfer to study, communication and cognitive skills useful in every part of curriculum. The discipline of music study, particularly through participation in ensemble/ group lessons, helps students learn to work effectively in a structured environment without resorting to violence or inappropriate behavior when unsatisfied. Music lessons not only improve memorization and small motor skills, but also strongly contribute to building positive self- confidence and esteem in youths. The combination of gained skills and boost in confidence will help in other areas beyond music. Music keeps youths engaged and less likely to drop-out, while helping them succeed in other academic subjects like math and reading.
PAL of Cape Cod wants all youths to have success in school, employment, and social structures through which we move. But PAL also wants youths to experience “success” on a broader scale. Participation in music enrichment opportunities brings countless benefits to all individuals throughout life. By offering youths the chance to participate in affordable, easy -access, music lessons and enrichment opportunities, PAL strives to help all Cape youths achieve success. So, what is the best way to introduce children to music? Many children with encouragement can learn challenging instruments such as the violin and piano. But not all families can invest the money and time required for instruments and lessons.
THANK YOU FALMOUTH CULTURAL COUNCIL FOR THE RECENT 2012 GRANT of $500 TO PURCHASE INSTRUMENTS FOR THE PROGRAM!
